That day I was looking thru the papers on my dad's working table.
One of the papers was his checklist of things-to-do.He has always told me about his checklist. And has always asked me to follow them.
But his checklist was not like mine that consist of doing grocery, online banking, meetings and many other probably useless things.
His checklists are mostly directed towards improving relations either with his Creator or the people around him.
One of the boxes that really reflects him is this box that says:
◽ Call sisters
Yes, my dad always called his sisters, all of them, every single week- just to find out how they are, if they need any help, if they are healthy and if they need someone to talk too.
'The call might just take a few minutes and cost a few cents, but it will let my sisters know I am here for them and also give me peace to know my sisters are all doing ok..' he always said to me.
And true enough, when he passed away, my Aunties cried hugging me and all of them said the same thing '...now there will be no more calls from a loving brother who cares...'
Indeed my dad has lived his life taking care of his relations with kinship the best he possible can, and probably the reason why God has blessed him with so much as He promised in the Holy Quran for those to takes care of kinship.
To my Aunties and everyone on my dad's checklist, you are all now have been transferred into mine and my brother's checklist, and God Willing we will now continue to make those phone calls our dad used to make to all of you.
To my family and friends, let us look at our own checklist, and try to add this important Box to call and stay in touch with those people who are important to us - our siblings, parents, children etc.
I have learnt now that my dad's words were true-
that '..it might just take a few minutes and cost a few cents...' but it means the world to them.
Let us all pick up the phone and make the call..
Make a call! |
Call. Adalah perkara yang paling susah saya buat. jika ada sebab, baru akan call.Semoga Ramadhan yang barakah memberi motivasi baru untuk kita membaik. ^____^
(err.. instead of make a call, can we make it as send an 'sms'? he he.. masih nak mengelat. >.<)
p/s: ok, jom siapkan checklist.
